The Article that Started it All
In 2004 the O'Reilly Media Conference marked the first appearance of the phrase 'Web 2.0'. Tim O'Reilly, founder of O'Reilly Media, had already forged popular status among the broader geek community for his support of the open source movement but this naming of the next generation Web would make him a veritable Web and business superstar.
After the buzz generated around Web 2.0 at their 2004 conference, O'Reilly Media published an article in September 2005 titled 'What is Web 2.0'.
We strongly recommend that you read it if you have any interest in understanding where Web 2.0 originated from and why it is relevant.
