According to almost every research company, Instagram is the fastest growing social network in 2013/14. That alone should be reason enough for you to be investing, testing or growing your brand’s presence on the photo-sharing network. That’s the starting point in answering, “why should my brand be on Instagram?” – the knee jerk response when millions of potential customers gather in one specific place.

The second reason for getting your brand onto Instagram is that you actually stand a chance of being successful if you go about it the right way. This is an important consideration because of the following: almost every company ‘attempting’ social has flooded onto facebook. It was the social media gold rush and everyone wanted to stake their claim. On facebook, some found riches, some found heartache, but the vast majority found mediocrity. A fate worse than failure.

On the surface, Instagram is much like any other social network: users post, like and comment. But there are a few subtle differences that make it a great opportunity for brands to succeed in building an active audience.
