Case Study: An Instawalk with a difference

It’s not often you get the chance to introduce an Instagram account to South Africa, so when you do you need to make it special. At the end of March, Vodacom asked us to put together an Instawalk to introduce Vodacom’s Instagram account to the local community. Instead of doing the expected, we decided to do something fly.

Key to Instagram is the community of people who make the social network so special. We knew that introducing Vodacom to the local Instagram community was a great first step in being able to actively participate in South Africa’s burgeoning mobile photography scene.

One sunny Friday afternoon we invited 20 of Johannesburg’s top Instagrammers to explore the city from above in a helicopter – a view that very few people ever get to see. The heli-flips were followed by gourmet burgers and drinks on the roof of a building in Maboneng. Vodacom and Cerebra were able to watch the sun go down, and get to know the best of the South African Instagram community whilst admiring everyone’s best pics of the city.

The event was a great success from both a participant and client perspective and we’ve put together a quick video to show you what we all got up to on that very cool Friday afternoon.
