Junior Account Executive
Submitted by Kellen Rodney on Thu, 2012-09-27 10:24The account executive's role within Cerebra is to assist the account managers in their day-to-day management of accounts/clients.
The account executive sits at an entry level position within the client teams, but this must be seen as a starting block for growth into an account manager role, where a lot of learning and training is still required, yet the individual, at this point, should be a capable communication professional able to handle a broad variety of tasks with increasing independence and sound judgement. Basic social media and public relations knowledge and experience is a must for this position.
Persons in this category hold responsibility for specific assignments that typically are components of larger projects.
Key aspects of role/duties:
- to perform day-to-day account work, which may include: drafting a wide range of written materials, co-ordinating meetings and events, maintaining client contacts, managing projects briefed by account managers
- to prepare preliminary documentation i.e. client memos, background information, as well as daily updates on the client status reports – in time to assist with client briefing documents i.e. briefs to writers
- to familiarise oneself with the relevant clients' communications plans, whilst tracking client business with such plans
- to facilitate and manage client reporting
- to act as a liaison between client, outside suppliers and, as appropriate, other internal and external audiences
- to facilitate client events
- to assist team members at events i.e. managing registration tables, assisting with name labels and compiling of press packs
- to pursue opportunities for enhancing involvement and contributions to the accounts, team and company
- to also assist other account managers where needed, even if these are not direct clients
Requirements:
- to attend all internal meetings i.e. coaching sessions, internal training sessions and weekly status meetings
- attention to detail in all outgoing communication
- a positive and professional attitude towards the media, clients and work
- continually seeks new ways to learn and improve
- to be a valuable member of the Cerebra team and represent the company at high level
